The APK2 pressure sore treatment cushion
Internal air bladders can be any size, number or configuration to match each client's unique needs.
The patented APK2 is a fully automatic alternating pressure relief cushion. The primary function of the APK2 is to treat pressure sores by providing the ideal healing conditions and performing automatic pressure relief.
APK2 has a soft waterproof foam exterior and internal air bladders that automatically inflate and deflate multiple sets of internal air bladders. This action changes pressure contact points and stimulates circulation.
The APK2 eliminates the primary cause of pressure sores and skin breakdown, which is constant unrelieved pressure. A simple static air cushion cannot give pressure relief unless you yourself move around and lift up. The APK2 does this automatically.
The internal air bladders are sized and positioned in such a way as to address each client's unique needs and off loading requirements.
You tell us where the trouble spot or pressure ulcer is located and we build the cushion to off load that area full time while stimulating circulation throughout the rest of the posterior.
The order form is located under the resources and forms tab
Note: The animation shows the general principle of operation The actual bladder arrangement and number of cushion air bladders for each client is based on individual conditions and needs and may vary from person to person

Unlimited customizing capabilities
The system includes
the custom made cushion, anti-microbial cushion cover, controller with cover,
battery charger (if applicable).
The battery powered controller is portable, quiet ,lightweight and includes a cover.
The controller gives the user or caregiver a range of
firmness and cycle settings making it fully adjustable to adapt
to the client's needs. A digital display shows current settings and there is a system status light, low pressure and low battery light.
Deluxe Remote Control
System power switch and settings can be operated via the Deluxe remote
Control. It also features a low pressure and low battery indicator.
The Deluxe Remote Control is moisture resistant and the LCD screen
is illuminated when the system is turned on
Mini Remote Control
The Mini Remote Control is smaller than
the Deluxe Remote and offers the basic functions of power
switch, system status and visual low pressure alert
Moisture Control Unit
The Moisture control unit option helps keep the user's posterior cool and dry. The MCU utilizes a small fan that forces a high volume of air along the channels on top of the cushion. Air permeates up through
the breathable cover keeping the skin cool and dry and helping to prevent skin maceration. The MCU
is housed in a pouch which is attached to the front
of the cushion cover
The MCU fan automatically runs each time the pump turns on. The fan is quiet and can be deactivated by disconnecting the
plug from the controller.
Every Aquila cushion system comes with a stretchable, breathable
and washable cover for the cushion. However, incontinence covers
in any size are also available. Note that the air from the MCU will not pass through an incontinent cover.
The positioning pad is a manually operated, adjustable
pad that is positioned inside the APK2 cushion cover
and is inflated
to compensate for a pelvic lean
The Backpack works great for stowing the APK2 controller and other personal items. The Backpack measures 14"w x 17"h x 4"d and fits on the back of either a manual or power wheelchair utilizing the adjustable straps. There are top and side access zippers to the main compartment and an extra zipper pocket for storing valuables. Small openings are located at the bottom right and left sides of the Backpack to allow for the APK2 air hoses or other cords such as for the Deluxe Remote Control. There are mesh bottle holder and storage pockets, plus a small pocket located behind the logo for business cards. The black material is light-weight and water resistant.
